Sixteen intrepid Year 11 and 12 students experienced Italian life for three weeks last month as guests of schools in Colle Val d’Elsa (Tuscany) and Guidonia near Rome. The group was the subject of seven newspaper articles and one TV report as we are the only New Zealand school to exchange classes with an Italian school. Highlights included climbing the leaning tower of Pisa in a thunderstorm, riding in Gondolas in Venice in a thunderstorm, and attending an audience with the Pope (not in a thunderstorm). The next exchange is planned for 2013 with a visit from Italy in April and a return visit later in the year.
