New Structure of The Day
Wellington High School’s Curriculum Focus Group has been meeting this year to investigate issues and aspirations relating to curriculum design and development. Of particular interest was the evaluation of how the school timetable is serving the requirements of both the academic and pastoral aspirations of the NZ Curriculum.
The essential need to change was to allow time for all roopu teachers, particular in the senior school, to get to know their roopu group well and academically mentor them throughout the year.
As a result the timetable structure for 2014 is changing to enable senior and junior roopu to occur on a daily basis. Time will be well used to support individual students in the context of school wide developments. This allocated time will also be used to accommodate year level and whole school assemblies thereby limiting the impact of group level meetings on curriculum time. The new timetabled day will follow this structure as of January 2014:
