Three of our junior teams made it to their division finals this week and they were all played at WHS on Thursday after school.
The year 9 boys did particularly well to win Division 2 – they beat a Rongatai team made up of all year 10s by 5 games to 1. Excellent effort by Otis Rea (captain), Milo Willcock, Zak O’Callaghan and Kieran Pancha.
The year 9 girls beat St Mary’s in the Division 3 final 4-2. This was a deserved result by the girls, a number of whom hadn’t played badminton before this year, who have been totally reliable and organised all season. Well done to Zita Harrington, Eva McGauley, Kaylin Chu, Daisy Abraham and captain Hazel Williams.
Unfortunately the year 10 girls couldn’t make it a hat-trick in their final which would have made them the best junior girls team in Wellington. Niki Menzies, Elise Forman, Milli Kumar and Eva Tinga played some excellent badminton and put up a good fight but eventually lost 4-2 to East.
