Congratulations go to Oscar Thomas who also graduated from WHS at the end of last year. He was awarded a Outstanding Scholarship in Design Visual Communication with his work on his architectural redesigning Frank Kitts park area. This work was on display in the DVC exhibition at WHS last year and now you too can see it on the NZQA website. NZQA have used it to promote high level critical design thinking that all students in New Zealand need to aspire to.
This is a great for Oscar that his work has been showcased in such a way. His work was inspired from the book Invisible Cities, the phrase ‘a city that people walk in” combined with the fantastical.
Looking at a range of inspirations to draw from, Oscar believed that Frank Kitts Park and the waterfront is a significant public space that needed an injection of life and modernisation and this was the driving force for the whole project redevelopment. Oscar is currently studying design at University.
