Important Information

WHS Car Parking update

We have recently taken the decision to change the car park monitoring company to ensure that only WHS employees and authorised visitors are able to park in the school car park during the day. The system will also be switched on overnight, every night from 10pm as an extra security measure: no visitor parking is authorised overnight.

It is important to note the following:

  • The system has a thirty minute window for caregivers to drive in and drive back out again when dropping off their students, without needing to register your vehicle.
  • Please ensure that you use the WHS driveway for both your entry and exit rather than the Massey University exit otherwise the system will think you have parked.
  • If you intend to stay longer than 30 minutes you will need to sign in at Reception on the car park tablet to avoid getting a breach notice at a cost of $85.
  • The system is not active from 3.30pm – 10pm during the week.  Parking for sports and events at the weekend and evenings is not affected.
  • If parking is available for daytime events at school eg Learning Conversations, the system is inactivated for that day.

The current building work is limiting car park spaces and we cannot guarantee parking.  Longer term these works will provide improvement to our students’ learning environment with new lifts, a renovated music room, and renewed access to the Riley Centre mezzanine.

Sport

Underwater Hockey success

Congratulations to Sienna Milligan, Maddy Murdoch, Eve Shaw and Claudia Hopkins for winning gold at U18 Underwater Hockey nationals in the Central A U18 Girls team. They were underdogs in the final when: they lost to Northern A in round robin, they hadn’t won the cup for 15 years, they fell behind on the scoreboard twice during the final, they had three players in the sin bin at one time. But they still won!

Maddy scores the winning goal:

Also congratulations to Ollie Thurlow Rae, Tom Curtain, Aidan Relph, Hugh Hawley and Parker Rogers for winning bronze at U18 nationals in the Central U18 Boys team. Toby Greenbank, James Ma, Stella Fitzpatrick, Lily Scott and Leni Campbell placed 6th for playing in the U18 B teams.
